What does owning a smart home mean to you? Perhaps cost-saving, convenience, efficiency, and maybe even a little technological enjoyment come to mind? These are all valid reasons to desire a smart home of your own. Recently Lowe’s released their 2014 Smart Home Survey examining Americans’ attitudes as well as their familiarity with smart home devices. They found that, “70 percent of Americans wish they could control something in their home from their mobile device without getting out of bed…” That is certainly a substantial number considering many homes don’t include smart home features!

A smart home device we use a lot and have featured previously on our blog is the, Nest Thermostat, which can be controlled via one’s mobile device or tablet. This next generation thermostat can lower your heating and cooling bills up to 20%. We receive a lot of positive feedback with the Nest, as it is unique and incredibly efficient. In fact, The Smart Home Survey found that many Americans consider smart home features as a purchasing consideration. We find that our buyers feel positive towards the smart home devices we include that enable these homes to be more energy efficient, simpler to manage, as well as money saving for them and their energy bill.
