In a recent 7-2 vote from the city council on February 23, followed by another seven hours of community comments and deliberation, the One Paseo mixed-use $750 million dollar Carmel Valley project was approved. This project is set to have 1.4 million square feet of retail and office space as well as 608 condos and apartments.
In an article from the San Diego Business Journal Lou Hirsh wrote, “The council approved zoning amendments clearing the way for the project after Kilroy [the developing firm] officials said the developer would set aside 10 percent of the multifamily units as affordable housing.” When asked about the lack of parking, Kilroy responded with their plans to operate with off-site parking available for all employees with a shuttle bus that runs back and forth from a transit center in Sorento Valley to One Paseo in Carmel Valley. Kilroy expects to begin this year and to complete, “…first elements by late 2017 or early 2018.” This project is planning on having expansive green areas along with on site bike trails.
